Zeynep Su Sezgin
Zeynep Su Sezgin (Zey) is a filmmaker, photographer, and director of photography born and raised in Turkey. She values creating complex characters in her films to challenge herself and her audience to see things from a different perspective, as sometimes things aren’t just black and white; she likes staying in the gray area. She aims to work on projects that enable the audience to find something they can relate to and feel a little less lonely and a little more understood.
She practices mostly analog photography, and the majority of her photographs are composed of people, places, and things. She utilizes photography to try to convey abstract, evocative, and urban scenery as a metaphor for human existence. In her art, she does not put a negative spin on beauty and aesthetics; rather, she views them as a tool that may help her transmit challenging messages in a more effective manner. Specifically, she gets inspiration from random instances in life and aims to portray the true essence of the moment.
